Birth of Monk Seal Pup Caught on Camera at Hawaii Beach
Adorable footage shows the birth and first moments of a Hawaiian Monk Seal pup born on Oahu on April 14.
Footage distributed by the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources shows the birth of seal pup PO5 and the first moments with his mother, RN58, also known as Luana.
Lesley Macpherson, who witnessed PO5 being born and observed his first few days, said the pup had enjoyed nursing with his mother and having his first experience with water.
The footage also shows PO5 stuck on the side of a small rock which Macpherson said took him three minutes to climb.
