Bill Clinton Admitted to D.C. Hospital After ‘Developing a Fever’
Former President Bill Clinton was admitted to a hospital Monday afternoon for “testing and observation after developing a fever,” an aide said in a statement.
Clinton, 78, was admitted to Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
“He remains in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving,” his deputy chief of staff Angel Ureña wrote in a post on X.
Representatives for the former president did not immediately return a request for comment from the Daily Beast.
However, a source close to Clinton told NBC News that the former president will likely be fine.
“He developed a fever and wanted to be checked out. He is awake and alert,” the source said.
It’s not the first health scare Clinton has had since leaving the White House in 2001. After complaining of chest pain and shortness of breath, doctors recommended the former president undergo open heart surgery in 2004. Clinton had a successful quadruple bypass, and later had two stents implanted to treat a blocked artery in 2010.
He was also hospitalized for a partially collapsed lung in 2005. More recently, Clinton spent six days in a hospital in 2021 after developing a blood infection.
Clinton had a more active year in 2024, spending weeks fundraising for President Joe Biden and then stumping for Vice President Kamala Harris after she took over the Democratic ticket in July.
