Celebrity Big Brother could be set for a grand return next summer – according to Big Brother star Craig Phillips, that is.

The Liverpool native was the first ever winner of the main show back in 2000, and in recent conversation with Radio Times, Craig explained why he believes the glitzier version will be back on our screens in the near future.

"I think Celebrity Big Brother is going to return but not the normal one at the moment," he said.

"For one, it's a short show – three or four weeks long, so it's easier for the TV slots, and it still brings in a huge amount of revenue.

"I think for it to have an impact, it needed to have a rest and year off or so. I'm not a betting person, but if you're a betting person, I would put money on next summer, there's going to be a Celebrity Big Brother."

Celebrity Big Brother has been off our screens for going on two years now, with Coronation Street favourite Ryan Thomas the last contestant to be crowned the winner.

Meanwhile, Craig shared another one of his theories surrounding the show – revealing that "if we weren't in lockdown" a reboot would've been made sometime this summer.

Celebrity Big Brother aired on Channel 5 before being shelved.
