Biden mocks reporter: ‘Did you fall on your head or something?’
President Biden responded to a shouted question about whether he would serve a second full term by questioning if the reporter who asked had fallen on his head.
“Are you OK? Are you all right? You’re not hurt, are you?” Biden said after landing in Philadelphia on Wednesday. Biden first paused and pointed to his head before speaking in response to a question shouted at him asking, “Will you be serving your full four-year term or handing your power over to Vice President Harris?”
Steven Nelson, a New York Post reporter, was heard in audio of the exchange asking if Biden could approach the assembled media members so they could hear his answer.
“I said, are you OK? Did you fall on your head or something?” Biden said, without moving toward the media.
Biden was standing beside Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) during the interaction.
Biden, 81, has faced concerns over his age and if he’s up for another four years as president— a term that would end when he’s 86 years old.
Harris, when questioned about whether she’s up for the job, said she’s “ready to serve” in an interview in February.
The president’s heath was in the spotlight at the time, after special counsel Robert Hur’s report on Biden’s handling of classified documents called the president an “elderly man with a poor memory.”
Biden is no stranger to snapping back at White House reporters. In August, the president told Fox News’s Peter Doocy that he asked a “lousy question” when he asked about his son, Hunter Biden, and his business dealings.
The White House did not respond to a request for comment on Biden’s remark Wednesday.
