‘The Better Sister’ Adds Maxwell Acee Donovan & Kim Dickens As Series Regulars

EXCLUSIVE: Maxwell Acee Donovan (That ’90s Show) and Kim Dickens (Fear The Walking Dead) are set as series regulars opposite Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks in Prime Video‘s thriller series The Better Sister, based on the novel by Alafair Burke.

Hailing from Tomorrow Studios, which will co-produce with Amazon MGM StudiosThe Better Sister meditates on the terrible things that drive sisters apart and ultimately bring them back together. Biel leads the cast as Chloe, who moves through the world with her handsome lawyer husband Adam and teenage son Ethan by her side while her estranged sister Nicky (Banks) struggles to stay clean and hustles to make ends meet. When Adam is brutally murdered, the prime suspect sends shockwaves through the family, laying bare long-buried secrets.

Cast also includes series regulars Corey Stoll and Bobby Naderi.

Donovan will play Ethan, 17, who adores his loving mother Chloe (Biel) and has a complicated relationship with his overachieving, overbearing father, Adam (Stoll). When he’s swept up in a family tragedy, his mother can no longer protect him, and he’s forced to face his fears head on.

Dickens will portray Nancy Guidry, a detective investigating Adam’s (Stoll) murder, Guidry sees more than anyone else in the room, and isn’t afraid to tell you all about it.

Olivia Milch (Ocean’s 8), who wrote the pilot, and Regina Corrado (Mayor of Kingstown) serve as executive producers and showrunners. Craig Gillespie (Pam & Tommy) will direct the series and exec produce alongside Annie Marter through Fortunate Jack Productions. In addition to Milch and Corrado, EPs include Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and Alissa Bachner through Tomorrow Studios (One Piece), a partnership with ITV Studios, as well as Banks, Biel and Michelle Purple. Author Burke is set as a consultant.

Donovan recently wrapped Season 2 of That ’90s Show for Netflix where he plays the series regular role of Nate. His other credits include The Thundermans, Disney Channel’s Gabby Duran & The Unsittables and the film War Dogs. He’s repped by Osbrink Agency, Vault Entertainment, TFG, and Goodman Genow Schenkman Smelkinson + Christopher, LLP.

Dickens most recently played the lead role of Madison Clark on AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead. She also starred on Treme and had key recurring roles on Deadwood, Sons of Anarchy and House of Cards, among many others. Her film work includes a starring role in Netflix feature The Good Nurse opposite Eddie Redmayne and Jessica Chastain. She’s repped by Gersh and Anonymous Content.
