Bethlehem celebrates Orthodox Christmas

Theophilos III was greeted by crowds of residents as he walked towards The Church of the Nativity, where he will lead a midnight service.

"We are here today to celebrate where Jesus was born," said Sabreena Abu Maneh, who had travelled from Ramallah for the festivities.

The Church of the Nativity is shared by various Eastern denominations including the ancient Assyrian Church, the Greek Orthodox, Armenian, and the Coptic Church.

Leaders from the various churches arrive every year at the church to kick off their Christmas Eve celebrations.
