The BET Awards Came For Trump's 'Black Jobs' Debate Comment — And It Didn't Go Over Well

The 2024 BET Awards took aim at Donald Trump’s head-scratching comment that immigrants are coming to America are taking “Black jobs.”

The former president made the bizarre statement during Thursday’s CNN presidential debate against President Joe Biden.

“The fact is that his big kill on the Black people is the millions of people that he’s allowed to come in through the border,” Trump said of Biden, invoking his immigration policy. “They’re taking Black jobs now — and it could be 18, it could be 19 and even 20 million people. They’re taking Black jobs and they’re taking Hispanic jobs.”

Actress Taraji P. Henson called out Trump while hosting Sunday’s ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

“[This is] a show packed full of all-stars with Black jobs. Whatever that means,” she said sarcastically. “But clearly we know there’s a difference — thanks for the info, but we already knew it.”

Elsewhere in the show, comedian B. Simone poked fun at Trump’s comment by asking audience members to identify if jobs like a TSA agent and hairstylist were “Black jobs.”

Not everyone was pleased with the segment. Some on social media found it cringey, considering Trump’s offensive comments. One user argued that the segment mocked blue-collar workers.
