There's a lot going on in the world right now, which is probably why we all thoroughly enjoyed the return of the Great British Bake Off last night [22 September]. What could be better than 90 minutes of great cake, a brand new batch of bakers and totally pure intentions?

Only, er, last night's episode, the first of the series, did have a little bit of a tense moment during the technical challenge. The 12 bakers were asked to make mini-Pineapple Upside-Down cakes, but the segment ended in catastrophe when Sura accidentally knocked Dave's bakes off the judging table.

The contestant was attempting to swat a fly, and accidentally sent Dave's upside cakes flying in the process. "I'm so sorry!" she gasped. "Oh my god! I'm so sorry there was a fly! I went to shoo it away and I knocked it."

While Twitter viewers didn't necessarily think it was sabotage (it really was an accident, you guys), there were obviously some hilarious reactions to the moment on social media.

Prue and Paul salvaged one of Dave's cakes, calling it "delicious" and giving it a safe 9th place ranking out of the 12 contestants. As for Sura, she finished first for her "beautiful" pipe work, but said the win was "bittersweet because I feel so sad for Dave."

Bake Off, it's good to have you back.
