A mother in Florida was overcome with emotion as her son, a recently promoted US Army sergeant, made a surprise visit on Christmas Day, December 25, after three years overseas, the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) said.
Sgt Greg Hardy, who is stationed in South Korea, said he organized the surprise at the Tamarac home of his mother, Ann Myers, with the help of his sister, Gabby, and the BSO.
“I did this and LIVED to tell the tale,” Hardy joked on Facebook.
As part of a ruse, BSO deputies knocked on Myers’s front door and requested she come outside to help with a burglary investigation. This video of the heartwarming reunion, released by the sheriff’s office, shows the moment as Myers cautiously stepped outside and realized her son was in front of her, emerging from a BSO vehicle. With cries of emotion and excitement, Myers rushed over to Hardy and the pair held each other in a long embrace.
