‘That’s the best free-kick routine we have’: Klopp raves over Alexander-Arnold wonder strike in Liverpool stroll
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was left raving over the quality of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s strike in Monday night’s comfortable 3-0 win at Leicester.
Curtis Jones’ impressive double pushed the Foxes to the brink of relegation as the Reds cruised to victory, just two years to the day since Leicester’s FA Cup final triumph.
The midfielder’s first-half brace and Alexander-Arnold’s stunner eased the visitors to victory as the hosts capitulated to leave them staring at the drop.
Liverpool are now a point behind Manchester United as their late charge for the top four continued at pace at the King Power.
A seventh straight win kept them on United’s coattails, although they will need to maintain their form and hope their rivals slip up.
And speaking after the game Klopp was left drooling over the goals, telling Sky Sports: “Sensational first goal. Top second goal. We should have scored immediately after.
“Third goal, what a wonderful routine. Love it. Good win, super important for us.
“We have two difficult games to come. Villa are fighting for Europe. Tonight I’m really happy.
“That’s the best free-kick routine we have. We should have scored three like that. Now we can take it direct or roll it both sides so it makes it more likely we score from these situations. We have to use it more often.
“We changed so many things. Now we just have to play a different rhythm.”
On their Champions League rivals, Klopp added: “I think they’d have preferred we lose tonight. I would in their shoes. I don’t think it’s likely but if they slip, we have to be there. Will they slip? I don’t know. Will we win both games? I don’t know.
“West Ham will be happy. Now David Moyes can prepare the European semi-final.”

Jones hails his Liverpool best
Meanwhile, two-goal hero Jones, when asked if that was his best performance for the club, added: “I think so yeah, definitely. It was a game where I had the ball a lot and I scored two as well.
“I was off for 15 weeks, I had a hard time, so now I’m back and I’m in the team, scoring goals and helping the team. I’ll just try to continue.
“We do a lot of shooting in training. I’m playing games and settling in. You get more by being around the box so that’s what I’m doing. The day before a game we always have a [shooting] competition.”
On whether Alexander-Arnold’s midfield position actually helps him: “Yes definitely, it allows me to stay high. I want to score and assist more. Having him there as a player who is calm on the ball, it allows me to stay between the lines. It’s working well and I hope it continues.”
The Reds are back in action on Saturday when they Aston Villa at Anfield.
