KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 — Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Kamal said it was incorrect to compare Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin with Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

The Machang MP reiterated today that Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders branded the corruption and money laundering charges against Muhyiddin as “selective prosecution”.

“I would like to remind you that Tan Sri Muhyiddin is not Najib Razak, and far from being involved in the world’s biggest financial scandal like 1MDB. Malays are better at judging which eyes are gems and which are glass.

“Selective prosecution like this, which is motivated by an extreme fear of Bersatu’s influence in Malay politics, is very sad. It is far from fair, and very inhumane,” he said during his speech at the annual general meeting (AGM) of the Bersatu Youth wing dubbed Armada today.

Representing Armada, he called the audience to take to their feet and demand that Muhyiddin stay as party president despite the charges that the latter is currently facing.

“This is not the first time that ‘Abah’ is being tested.

“We will defend Muhyiddin, and we want Muhyiddin to continue leading the party.

“We will fight against Anwar and the current government’s cruelty,” he said, while chanting “Takbir” and “Allahuakbar” with delegates amid audible slurs towards Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from others.

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal was addressing the over 400 delegates who attended the Bersatu Youth wing’s AGM at Menara PGRM here today.

The AGM is taking place under the cloud of party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s corruption and money-laundering charges.

PN leaders have decried the charges as “selective prosecution” while accusing the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim-led government of using its agencies as political weapons to persecute political rivals.
