IPOH, Nov 5 ― Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu hoped that he will remain friends with Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim whatever the outcome on polling day.

Addressing reporters after the official announcement of a four-cornered fight in Tambun, Ahmad Faizal said he is confident that PN will win and form the federal government.

“I hope me and Anwar will remain friends even after November 19 because Perikatan Nasional will form the federal government,” he said.

The Bersatu deputy president also urged voters to come out and cast their ballots for the future of the country.

“I hope that the voter turnout will be better than the previous elections and I also hope that all political parties will drive all these voters,” he added.

Besides the two giant political figures, Barisan Nasional (BN) Datuk Amiruddin Md Hanapiah and Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) Abdul Rahim Tahir are both contesting in Tambun making it a four-cornered fight.

In 2018, Ahmad Faizal contested under PH’s ticket and won the seat with a majority of 5,320 votes, defeating former second finance minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah and PAS’s Muhamad Zulkifli Mohamad Zakaria.

However, he defected during the Sheraton Move in 2020 together with Bersatu, which later formed the PN coalition.

The country will go to the polls on November 19.
