Bernice Liu: Nothing political about photo at Tiananmen Square

10 Sep – Hong Kong actress Bernice Liu has dismissed the idea that she was expressing any political ideology in her recent photo shared on Instagram.

As reported on Mingpao, the issue sparked recently, after the actress posted a photo of her jumping happily in front of the Tiananmen Square, writing, "On a rainy Monday morning, just wanted to lift everyone's mood and hopefully make u smile! Here's a perfect picture captured by a [unicorn]."

Speaking to the media about the photo, Bernice said that she was just expressing her happiness of being with her family, who was also travelling with her at the time.

"I went to Beijing recently to visit my younger brother. The things is, the family is scattered right now, living in different places. My brother is in Beijing, my sister is in the UK, and my parents are in Canada. It was rare for us to reunite," she said.

The actress also revealed that she had been travelling to and fro between Hong Kong and Vancouver to pursue her studies while filming her dramas as well.

"I would return to Vancouver three days a week, because it's not a long-distance learning. So by the time I did my exams, I fell ill immediately," she said.
