Benjamin Pavard says he lost consciousness for 10 to 15 seconds after collision with Robin Gosens

Fans were right to question whether France defender Benjamin Pavard should have been allowed to keep playing against Germany on Tuesday. Pavard admitted he lost consciousness for "10 to 15 seconds" following a collision with Robin Gosens, according to The Guardian.

The incident occurred in the second half of France's 1-0 win over Germany. Pavard needed treatment for several minutes on the field after being hit in the head by Gosens' leg. Pavard immediately fell to the ground, with his face bouncing off the field.

Despite that, Pavard stayed in the game and kept playing. Following the match, he admitted to BeIN Sports that he got knocked out.

β€œI took a hell of a shock,” he told French broadcasters BeIN Sports. β€œI was a little knocked out for 10 to 15 seconds. After that, it was better.”

Pavard's return to play comes days after every team at Euro 2020 signed a concussion charter, which was aimed at treating concussions more seriously. The charter stated that a player would be removed from a contest if the team suspects the player has a concussion.
