Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have been going through a period of marital strain as rumors of an impending divorce continue to loom. However, it doesn't mean that they don't still care about each other. Affleck is reportedly still protective over his wife, according to Page Six.

A source told the outlet that as the estranged couple works to figure out next steps, Affleck is “very protective of Jennifer." In the meantime, the two “have tried their best to put on a united front," though Page Six notes that their marriage has been “over for months.”

Rumors of a split started swirling after Affleck missed the 2024 Met Gala, of which Lopez was a co-chair. The couple has reportedly been "living separate lives"—and in different homes—but have reunited for family occasions like Affleck's kids' graduations.

Just last week, Lopez raced to Affleck's office almost immediately after landing stateside following her European vacation. A source told Entertainment Tonight that the getaway away was much-needed for Lopez.

“Jen loves vacationing in Europe during the summer," the insider said. "It’s been nice for her to experience a change of pace and have some breathing room. She has been having a blast with her friends. They love to go to fun dinners, have late nights, lay out in the sun, get dressed up, dance, and shop.”

"That's never really been Ben’s scene, even when him and Jen weren't having any issues," they added. "Jen isn't letting the fact that Ben's not there bring her down."

Last month, a separate source told the outlet that the two were focused on "doing their own thing."

"Jen and Ben have been living separate lives but have not officially separated yet," the insider explained. "At this point, they are just doing their own thing. They went into their relationship very optimistic and thought things could change, but they haven't."
