Malaysian singer and actress Bella Astillah yesterday clapped back at so-called fake social media accounts she said had asked whether she wore loose dresses for Hari Raya in order to cover up her pregnancy.
The 26-year-old personality, whose real name is Dayang Nabellah Awang Astillah, posted to Instagram yesterday that she had opted for the clothing due to comfort and not because she was “ashamed” to show off her belly.
“Bella punya baju raya dua2 besar sbb mau keselesaan tapi ada fake acc beri komen cakap ‘kenapa pilih baju besar sbb malu nak tunjuk perut ke (My festive clothes were oversized because I wanted to be comfortable, but these fake accounts are asking, ‘why do you wear oversized clothes? Is it because you’re ashamed to show your pregnancy’),” the now-deleted Instagram post said.
The wife of Singaporean singer Aliff Aziz did not reveal the names of the so-called fake accounts that were behind the accusations or how many there were.
She also included in the post a photo taken on the third day of Hari Raya on Tuesday, showing her and her three-year-old son. Both were in navy blue outfits, with Bella wearing the long dress that drew the negative reaction she claimed.
Comments posted to her Instagram account appear to have been restricted to only followers and people she follows. But that didn’t seem to stop the Tenang (Calm) singer from calling out haters she said had posted comments on other accounts.
“Siapa pun lah awak disebalik fake acc tu, 1st saya rasa sumua dah tahu saya pregnant (Whoever you are behind those fake accounts, first of all, I believe everyone already knows that I’m pregnant),” she said.
The Cinta Belum Tamat Tempoh (Love Isn’t Over) actress went on to say that she has photos from a recent maternity shoot but had held back from sharing them out of respect for the fasting month and Eid celebrations.
She then ended her statement on a positive note, urging fans to pray for good things to happen to people.
“Apapun, hidup ni kena sentiasa mendoakan orang lain sebab roda kehidupan berputar. Bila kita mendoakan kebaikan untuk orang, ada saja kebaikan untuk kita juga (In this life, we must always pray for good things to happen to others. When we do that, good things happen to us too).”
Bella was married to Aliff before the couple divorced last May amid reports of her husband’s extramarital affairs. The couple reconciled last month during the iddah period, which meant that they didn’t have to remarry.
Under Islamic law, the iddah period is when newly-divorced couples can reconcile via verbal pronouncement or by re-consummating their relationship.
The couple earlier revealed that Bella is already pregnant with their second child and she is due to give birth to a baby girl in July. They already have a three-year-old son together.
