“The Bear”'s Ayo Edebiri Thanks the 'Real Ones' During 'Very Grateful' Golden Globes Acceptance Speech
Rachel Brosnahan, Quinta Brunson, Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez and Natasha Lyonne were all in the running for this year's award

Ayo Edebiri at the 2024 Golden GlobesAyo Edebiri gave some special shout-outs while accepting her award for best actress in a musical or comedy at the 2024 Golden Globes.
"I am so very grateful for this. I’m in a room full of so many people who I admire and whose work has lifted me up," The Bear star shared on stage. "I’m an artist and I’m very lucky to be an artist and I know we all feel that way so I just really want to acknowledge that."
"I’m so grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press and to my family, my family, my family. Everybody at The Bear, that’s my family. I love you guys so much it’s an honor to work with you and grow alongside you," she added. "And oh my gosh the actors I was nominated alongside also. And my real family also, I love you guys too. And yeah, this just really means a lot."
"There’s so many people who I probably forgot to thank and — oh my god, all of my agents and managers assistants," she concluded. "The people who answer my emails. Y’all are real ones. Thank you for answering my crazy, crazy emails. Yeah, I’m really, really grateful. If I forgot to thank you, I’m sorry. Unless you were mean or something."
Among the women nominated were also Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Elle Fanning (The Great), Selena Gomez (Only Murders in the Building) and Natasha Lyonne (Poker Face).
Edebiri received her first nomination for this year's Golden Globe awards for her performance on The Bear.
In August, Edebiri, who plays chef Sydney Adamu in the hit Hulu series, told PEOPLE of an omelet her character made famous on the show "that's so beautiful and lovingly made — and so actually delicious."
"I was making it a bunch. And then I was like, ‘I actually feel sick to my stomach because all this is is egg and butter.’ That is French [cuisine] for you," she laughed, describing it as "literally heaven."
The dish is a twist on a traditional French omelet, with Boursin cheese in the middle and sour cream and onion chips on top, plus chives. “I made so many of them — just because making a French omelet is so hard — that eggs are tough for me right now!” she said.

As for the other nominees, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel 's Brosnahan was nominated for her fourth Golden Globe for her performance in the hit Prime Video series. She won in 2018 and 2019.
The show premiered its critically acclaimed first season on Prime Video in 2017. In November 2022, Brosnahan paid tribute to the series when the filming ended.
"That's a series wrap on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," she wrote on Instagram at the time. "This thing was lightning in a bottle. A cast, a crew and creators who got to time travel for five years together."
She added, "It changed my life. I'm eternally grateful. I'll have more words later, but for now… Thank you and goodnight."
Brunson, who not only created but also writes and stars in Abbott Elementary, plays second-grade teacher Janine Teagues. The mockumentary sitcom follows a dedicated group of Philadelphia-based teachers and their daily lives working at one of the worst public schools in the country.
Since it originally aired in December 2021, Brunson has gone on to receive great acclaim for her work on the ABC hit. In November 2022, the actress told PEOPLE that she had simple motivations behind the series.
"I just wanted to make a good show with good people, so everything else has been exciting additions to the plan," she explained. "My main priority was just making Abbott. All of the things that have been happening are because I got to make that and make it the way I wanted."

Nicholas Hoult and Elle Fanning in 'The Great'Like many of her fellow nominees, Fanning received her 2024 Golden Globe nomination for her performance in The Great after the Hulu series finished with its third and final season in May.
Nearly three months after the streamer announced it had not renewed its Emmy-nominated series for a fourth season, Fanning looked back on her time portraying Queen Catherine II of Russia in a tribute post shared on Instagram.
“Scrolling down memory lane,” she began. “I haven’t been able to properly share my thoughts after the news of The Great’s cancellation. This show has meant the world to me. The experiences shared. The memories I’ll never forget.”
She concluded, “In my mind Catherine is left ‘shaking it all night long’ finally stepping into the leader we always knew she would become, a multitude of lovers thrown in for good measure, many macaroons, vodka shots, long winded speeches, battles of wit, and of course HUUU-F---ING-ZZAHHHHSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🥂”

Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin in 'Only Murders in the Building'Gomez, who stars as Mabel Mora in Only Murders in the Building, received her second Golden Globe nomination for her performance on the show. The hit Hulu series follows three strangers: Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short, as they investigate murders in their New York City building called the Arconia.
Only Murders in the Building is Gomez's second television role since her days on Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place. In August 2021, she opened up about her return to the silver screen in a Television Critics Association press panel.
"The level of sophistication of the material is the first reason why I wanted to do this," the star explained before adding, "It's really nice to be back on TV and it's nice to be cast as my actual age, which never happens."
Lyonne also earned a nomination for her performance in Poker Face.
In the Peacock series, the actress takes on the role of Charlie Cale, a woman with the ability to tell when someone is lying. As she hits the road, she encounters multiple characters with strange crimes and circumstances she pitches in to solve.
This marks her second Golden Globe nomination.
