Bear Family Enjoy Quick Dip in Lake Tahoe Pond After Surviving Caldor Fire

A bear family enjoyed a refreshing dip in a pond at South Lake Tahoe, California, on September 8.

Footage captured by Toogee Sielsch shows a mama bear and her two cubs play fighting and splashing around in the water, having what Sielsch described as a “good bath” after the Caldor Fire hit the area.

According to officials, the fire had burned 218,405 acres and was 53 percent contained as of September 9.

South Lake Tahoe residents have been asked to be on the lookout for bears, as their activity in the area has increased since the wildfire.

“There is currently more bear activity in town; bears not used to humans, so they’re not scared of cars and more likely to walk in front of you,” the City of South Lake Tahoe warned. Credit: Toogee Sielsch via Storyful
