Baton Rouge Resident Prepares for Flooding Ahead of Hurricane Ida's Landfall

Flooding preparations were underway in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Saturday, August 28, as Hurricane Ida was expected to bring severe weather to the northern Gulf Coast, the National Hurricane Center said.

This footage filmed by Baton Rouge resident Brennen McAndrew shows sand bags lining his home’s exterior. “Flooded in May, praying to God I don’t flood again,” he wrote in a tweet.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the center of Ida was “quickly intensifying” in the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday afternoon ahead of its expected landfall on Sunday. Credit: Brennen McAndrew via Storyful
