Basingstoke: Woman has substance thrown over her hair and back in pub
A woman has been left "extremely distressed" after a substance was thrown at her in a busy pub.
The 52-year-old victim suffered from reddening to her skin, blisters, and had to have most of her hair cut off after the ordeal at the Golden Lion pub in Basingstoke on 10 February.
As she walked through the premises, the substance was thrown at her back, causing a burning sensation, and in her hair, causing it to matt, Hampshire Police said.
There was a band playing at the time and the pub was very crowded. The woman was inside between 9.30pm and 10pm.
Officers are trying to work out what the substance is, but it is not thought to be acid.
Police are asking for anyone who was in the pub at the time or who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
In a statement, the force said: "There was a band playing in the pub at the time of the incident and it was very crowded. Were you there?
"The woman was wearing a leopard print top. Did you see her, or did you witness the incident?
"Did you take any photos or video footage while you were there? You may have caught the incident on your camera."
