Barbie Hsu, Wang Xiaofei announce divorce
23 Nov – After much speculation, Barbie Hsu and Wang Xiaofei recently announced that they are getting a divorce.
In a statement released by the couple via their lawyer on 22 November, the couple stated that they are grateful for the years they had together and will get along as parents and friends in the future.
"Even if they choose to separate now, they are very grateful for the efforts of each other. Once a couple, they will get along happily as parents and friends in the future, and they will continue to raise their children together and give them all their love and company."
"We hope that the media and the public can respect the choices of both parties. At the same time, in order to avoid unnecessary harm to both parties and their families, I implore you to give them more personal space," the statement read.
Speaking to the media soon after, Barbie said that she is doing fine and expressed hope that her husband will have a better life now. She also stated that their two children will be living with her for the time being, and will decide when they are much older if they would prefer to live with her or their father.
Barbie met mainland businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2010 and tied the knot just 49 days after they met. Their first daughter was born in 2014, and they welcomed a son two years later.
Rumours of the couple's divorce sparked back in June when Barbie dropped the bombshell that she was in the process of divorcing Wang. Though the two later denied that they were going through with it, Wang fueled the rumours further early this month when he deleted all photos of Barbie from his social media accounts.
