KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 — After recreating the fantastic plastic world of Barbie, director Greta Gerwig might be stepping into the magical land of Narnia next.

The acclaimed director will reportedly write and direct two The Chronicles of Narnia film adaptations for Netflix, according to sources from The Hollywood Reporter.

This will be part of Netflix’s long-term plan to reintroduce the beloved Narnia series through various films and TV shows.

In 2018, Netflix acquired the film and TV rights from the CS Lewis Company and added Coco co-writer Matthew Aldrich to oversee the entire Narnia project.

Previously, CS Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia books were adapted into a trilogy of films by Disney and 20th Century Fox.

The films were The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), Prince Caspian (2008), and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010).

Gerwig rose to acclaim for writing and directing the indie teen drama Ladybird and a film adaptation of Little Women.

Her latest film Barbie, is a comedy about the iconic Mattel toys starring Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken.

The star-studded cast also features Simu Liu, Will Ferrell, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, Kate McKinnon and Dua Lipa among others.

Barbie will premiere in cinemas nationwide on July 20.
