Bannon Wants Trump to Conduct ‘Exorcism’ on White House After Soros Medal Ceremony
George Soros has received one of the highest civilian honors a US president can grant and Steve Bannon is having absolutely none of it.
The far-right fringe commentator used his Saturday appearance on his War Room podcast to rail against the progressive philanthropist being granted the Medal of Freedom by outgoing President Joe Biden, even calling for the White House to be “exorcised” after the ceremony was held there.
As Bannon put it, “Today, they’re showing you who’s in charge. The demon himself is gonna be in the White House. The first thing Trump should do, given what Biden is doing today with Soros and Clinton, is we should have an exorcism.”
Bannon appeared a little unclear, however, under which particular religious denomination he’d like to see the austere ceremony performed. “I think you have to have a Catholic priest, and I dunno, bring a protestant minister, bring whoever you want, bring a shaman in, I dunno–let’s have an exorcism!” he said.
Later on in the session, Bannon also went on to implore that Donald Trump make rescinding Soros’ recent honor a “day one priority” once he assumes office later this month.
He said, “My recommendation to President Trump is that you notify today that you’re going to sign an executive order on Monday, one of the very first actions is to rescind the Presidential Medal of Freedom that’s being given to George Soros today.”
He then added, “They’re going to say, well, you can’t rescind it. Okay, well, fine, try me, and send a team to track down Soros and take the medal back. It’s a disgrace that a demonic individual like that has gone out of his way to try to destroy this country.”
George Soros’s extensive funding of progressive political causes and public accountability journalism projects around the world, have very often made him a favored target among conservative voices, in particular among far-right conspiracy theorists and senior members of the Republican Party.
News of his recent award garnered a similar reaction over at Fox News, with Fox & Friends host Joe Concha describing Soros as literally “the most evil man on the planet.”
