Bank of America users reporting widespread outages
Bank of America users reported widespread outages Wednesday, with some unable to access their accounts while others complained of inaccurate balances.
More than 20,000 people reported having problems with Bank of America’s system by around 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Downdetector, a site that reports outages. More than half of users, 56 percent, reported having issues with online banking, while 43 percent had trouble with mobile banking, according to the latest numbers on the website.
“Has anyone been able to pay bills or withdraw money?” one Bank of America user wrote in a Wednesday comment on Downdetector.
Some customers said earlier Wednesday that the bank’s phone lines were down while others complained about long wait times and multiple call transfers.
The bank’s social media team has engaged with customers, directing them to connect through direct messages.
“Some clients are experiencing an issue accessing their accounts and balance information today,” a Bank of America spokesperson said in a statement to The Hill. “These issues are being addressed and have largely been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
