Band of 'Very Heavy Snow' Sweeps Through Chicago Area

A band of very heavy snow swept through the Chicago area on the night of January 19, the National Weather Service said.

The band brought whiteout conditions and lightning to the area, the NWS said. Up to three inches of snow fell in one hour across the region, they said.
