Baltimore Firefighters Give Fallen Crew Member's Stepdaughter First Day of School Send Off

Dozens of firefighters lined up to send off the stepdaughter of a fallen Baltimore firefighter before she went to her first day of school on Monday, August 29.

The young girl, Mila, is the stepdaughter of Lieutenant Kelsey Sadler, one of three firefighters who died of injuries suffered in a partial building collapse in west Baltimore last January.

Footage posted on the Baltimore Firefighters Union Twitter account shows Mila holding a flower bouquet and high-fiving crew members outside Trinity Lutheran Christian School on Monday morning.

In April, the school announced the Lt. Kelsey Sadler Memorial Scholarship to benefit children of first responders.

“Members stepped up to ensure that Mila received a welcomed start to the school year from her extended fire department family,” the union said on Facebook. Credit: Baltimore Firefighters Union via Storyful
