Jairzeno has become the second person to leave The Great British Bake Off after crumbling under the pressure of biscuit week.

It might have only been the second week of the competition, but the bakers already faced an incredibly tough showstopper challenge to create a working interactive toy out of biscuit that saw many of the contestants fall apart.

Having labelled his own biscuit boat "more of a shipwreck than a ship", Jairzeno found himself at the bottom of the barrel by the end of biscuit week.

Amanda and Maggie also struggled with the task, which saw Amanda's rocking horse collapse into a heap of biscuit pieces and left Maggie crying.

Jairzeno said: "I was half expecting that result because if you look at my showstopper compared to everyone else's, mine was quite basic."

Earlier in the episode, bakers had been asked to create their signature version of classic brandy snaps, and in the technical challenge they had to make jammy dodger-style biscuits with minimal instructions.

It proved such a tough week in the tent that the challenges even reduced the most experienced baker, Maggie, to tears.

She said: "It's quite silly really, when I've watched people before on Bake Off crying I've thought for goodness sake, it's only cake. But it's all changed."

Meanwhile, Jurgen was the deserved star baker for the second week in a row thanks to his intricate gingerbread windmill showstopper.

Giuseppe also had a strong week, creating a perfectly presented chequers board made of biscuit, while Crystelle impressed again too with an edible vanity case.

Next week, fans can look forward to Paul Hollywood's favourite round - bread week.
