Bad Boys for Life included mid-credits scene to give fans "closure"

Bad Boys for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have explained why they decided to include the mid-credits scene featuring Mike Lowrey and his criminal son Armando.
In the scene, Mike (Will Smith) pays Armando (Jacob Scipio) a visit in prison and offers his son a kind of a deal, requesting his help on a new case in exchange for a reduced prison sentence.
The scene didn't give too much away – but it did serve as a clear teaser for a possible Bad Boys 4 story, if another sequel is confirmed.

Speaking to Collider about how they came to decide on that credits scene, Adil El Arbi explained: "That was the last scene to be put in the movie, and we went back and forth a hundred times.
"No one knew what to do. The studio, the producer, us, or Will and Martin [Lawrence] – do we put it in or not?
"And from those eight or ten test screenings, we screened it with and without, and by screening it without, the audience felt they needed some kind of closure with one of the characters, so we put it back in really close to the title, not like a Marvel movie where it comes all the way at the end of the credits."

Adil El Arbi continued to explain that the scene was included purely to give fans closure, but he doesn't rule out that this could potentially act as a door to a fourth instalment in the franchise.
"It's not a superhero movie; we put it in just to have that closure," the director added. "And who knows? If the movie is successful, there might be another one."
