SABAH POLLS | Former communication and multimedia minister Salleh Said Keruak said he had made a mistake leaving Umno in 2018 after he realised a strong attachment to Barisan Nasional.

"I admit, I made a mistake in my political consideration. I am sorry. When I was outside the party, I felt lonely. I realised wherever I went, BN never disappeared from my heart.

"That is why I expressed my desire to Datuk Seri Bung (Moktar Radin). I want to be with the party to face our main enemy, Warisan.

"We need to win in order to save Sabah. We need to build a strong team for this," said the candidate for Usukan as reported by the Borneo Post.

He was speaking during a campaign event in Kampung Timbang Dayang yesterday, attended by former premier Najib Abdul Razak.

During the 14th general election, Salleh lost in a four-cornered fight for the Kota Belud parliamentary seat to Warisan's Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis.

After leaving Umno in December 2018, the former Umno treasurer applied to join PKR in October 2019 but retracted the decision in April after taking into consideration the then political landscape, including the internal squabbles within PKR.

In June this year, Salleh submitted an application to Sabah Umno to rejoin the party.
