Evacuations continued on the Spanish island of La Palma on Friday, October 1, as a new fissure opened on the Cumbre Vieja volcano.
According to the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME), a new fissure opened on the volcano on October 1, and two new lava streams separated from each other by just 15 meters have emerged.
Footage shared by Guardia Civil shows workers evacuating livestock from an area they described as an exclusion zone.
The lava flow has destroyed about 1,000 buildings since September 19 and was threatening another 1,200, according to El Pais. Credit: Guardia Civil via Storyful
