Australian Military Evacuates 26 From Kabul Airport After Taliban Take Control of City

An evacuation flight carried out by the Australian Defence Force transported 26 evacuees from the Afghanistan capital on August 18 after the Taliban took control of the city earlier in the week.

The evacuees were taken to a temporary holding centre at Australia’s main base of operations in the Middle East for further screening.

Two more flights were due to depart for the Middle East from Australia later in the week, according to the Department of Defence.
