A diver in Victoria, Australia, watched over a rare paper nautilus found struggling in the shallows of Frankston Beach on September 27 until animal rescuers could relocate it.
The beautiful sea creature – also known as an argonaut – was spotted near the shore by Myra Kelly, who shot this footage.
Kelly said an animal rescuer was called to the scene, collected the argonaut, and transported it to a more appropriate location. The footage, filmed over three hours, according to Kelly, shows the female octopus and her parchment-like shell, which carries her eggs and houses her young. Kelly described the creature as “marine perfection.” Credit: Myra Kelly via Storyful
