Aussie Snake Catcher Finds Carpet Python Mom and Eggs in Compost Bin

A snake catcher removed a clutch of snake eggs after finding a carpet python nesting in a compost bin in Landsborough, Queensland.

Footage shared to Facebook shows snake catcher Stuart McKenzie pulling the “mama python” from the bin, before removing the clutch of eggs separately.

McKenzie said he was planning on transporting the eggs to the Australia Zoo to safely incubate before bringing the baby snakes back to their habitat once they’ve hatched.

Compost bins are one of the more common places carpet pythons lay their eggs, he wrote in the video’s caption. Credit: Stuart McKenzie via Storyful
