Attn: Here’s the Ben Affleck and Kathleen “Kick” Kennedy Dating Rumor Update You’ve Been Waiting For
In the event you’ve been curious about (read: obsessing over) the rumored ‘ship between Ben Affleck and Kathleen “Kick” Kennedy, fear not! We’ve got a brand-spankin’ new update. According to the actor’s rep, Jen Allen, the two are *drumroll pls* not dating!
In fact, here’s exactly what Allen reportedly said in a statement obtained by People, just so we’re all on the same page: “There is no truth to any of it. I don't know if they even know each other.”
A reminder that just a few days ago, on August 24, Page Six was out here claiming that the actor was apparently “hanging out with” Kick, who is not-so-casually RFK Jr.’s daughter. According to the outlet, “A Hollywood insider tells Page Six they have been spotted at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel and other hot spots. The nature of their relationship remains unclear.”
Obvi, the news was definitely 👀, especially on the heels of Jennifer Lopez filing for divorce from Ben, citing “irreconcilable differences.” TMZ was the first to drop the update and reported that she filed the docs on Tuesday, August 20, “pro per,” which means “by herself and without an attorney.” Oh, and it *also* just so happened to be on the second anniversary of her and the actor’s Georgia wedding, so read into that what you will!
A source at the time dished to People that the Atlas star “tried really hard to make things work, and is heartbroken. The kids are a top priority, as they always have been.” They also added that the celeb was “done waiting” and is ready to “move on,” explaining, “She’s very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage.”
FYI, the couple’s blended family actually turned out to be one of the main reasons Ben and J.Lo waited so long to pull the trigger on divorcing. In the wake of the filing, a source told Entertainment Tonight that the celebs wanted to make sure everything was “seamless,” especially “with everyone involved.”
“Neither of them want this process to be rushed,” the person close to the sitch went on to note before adding, “They are treating the separation with as much grace, understanding, and gentleness as they can. They want to make sure the kids are comfortable with the transition and where they are living, etc. They don’t want to make it feel like they’re pulling the rug from underneath their children. They’re making a mutual effort to ensure that this transition is as healthy and easy as possible.”
Oh, and FYI: While the status of Ben’s love life continues to be a source of speculation, there’s actually been chatter about the possibility of the actor rekindling things with his ex (?!?!?!) Jennifer Garner. However, insiders almost instantly shut down the rumors, with one person telling TMZ the following about the 30 Going on 30 star and her current boyfriend, John Miller. “Jen and John are still very much together—despite a report they are on a break—and their relationship has NOT changed as a result of Jennifer Lopez filing to divorce Ben.”
