Astrophotographer Shares Spectacular Archival Footage of Mont Blanc Snow Moon

An astrophotographer captured a spectacular timelapse of a so-called snow moon setting behind the Mont Blanc massif in France.

Dr Sebastian Voltmer posted the archival footage to Twitter on February 27 of this year, to coincide with the appearance of 2021’s snow moon.

The astrophotographer told Storyful that the video was originally shot eight years previously on February 27, 2013.

The tweet was, he said, “meant in an illustrative way,” to “show people a moonset in this winter wonderland.” Credit: Dr Sebastian Voltmer | astrofilm.com via Storyful
