Astro unit APSB in deal to acquire Basecamp Films post-production firm
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 — Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary, Astro Productions Sdn Bhd (APSB), is formalising an asset purchase agreement with Basecamp Films Sdn Bhd, an award-winning visual post-production studio.
The agreement will see APSB acquiring all of Basecamp Films employee and assets for the formation of a new unit named Astro Sound+Vision, which is aimed at developing post-production for both Astro and the larger industry.
“Astro Sound+Vision is being set up to offer a full suite of world-class audio and visual post-production services for video content including films and TV series, shows and commercials.
“We have long been impressed by the quality and passion of the Basecamp team and are very happy to be integrating their skills into our operations.
“Through our expanded Sound+Vision unit, Astro is extremely well placed to deliver international standards of quality and finishing of video content for both Astro and external parties,” Astro group CEO Euan Smith said in a statement today.
The Astro Sound+Vision will offer services including high-quality cinema-based colour grading, Dolby Vision HDR post-production, full digital lab services and final output in 4K/HDR streaming to digital cinema, as well as audio engineering and recording, sound design, foley and final mix in surround and Dolby Atmos, for domestic and international feature films, broadcast TV productions, games, and commercials.
It also features Malaysia’s only certified THX cinema mix facility, with additional certifications for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for TV broadcast and cinema.
