According to reports, Aston Villa and West Ham have ‘submitted offers’ for Kalvin Phillips but the player has his ‘heart set’ on a move to Man City.
Phillips has grown to be an integral player for Leeds United and England. He missed 14 Premier League games last season as a result of a hamstring injury.
The 26-year-old did play in all of their last six games as he helped his boyhood club avoid relegation down to the Championship.
Man City have identified the England international as an ideal replacement for Fernandinho.
Football Insider are now suggesting that Aston Villa and West Ham have ‘submitted bids’ for the centre-midfielder.
They are unlikely to sign him though as Phillips reportedly has his ‘heart set on joining Man City’.
This move is ‘expected to be completed in the coming weeks’. It is noted that the fee for him would be £50m.
Elsewhere, Barcelona are reportedly ‘fully convinced’ that they can complete the signing of Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva.
He scored eight and assisted four last season as the Citizens finished on 93 points, one point above second-placed Liverpool.
Barcelona have been linked with Bernardo for a long time despite their difficult financial situation. On top of that, City have reportedly slapped an £80m valuation on the player.
Despite this, Spanish journalist Helena Condis (via Cope) has claimed that the Blaugrana are ‘fully convinced’ they will sign Bernardo this summer.
Writing on Twitter, Condis ‘ruled out’ a swap deal for Frenkie de Jong – who has been linked with the Premier League champions and, more heavily, city rivals Manchester United – as City ‘do not want’ the Dutchman.
Bernardo has been informed about the La Liga club’s interest through his agent, Jorge Mendes, and the player and his representatives believe they have to be ‘patient’ this summer.
The Cope report claims that Pep Guardiola has spoken with Barcelona president Joan Laporta. Furthermore, the 27-year-old has a ‘verbal agreement’ with his manager that he can leave if a ‘good offer’ from Barca comes in.
