(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Netflix’s “Bling Empire.”) “Bling Empire” stars Cherie Chan and Jessey Lee have an untraditional relationship for any culture — not just Asian. Cherie and Jessey are unmarried but have two young kids — a daughter Jadore and a son Jevon, whose delivery room birth was shown on the docusoap. In the season finale, Cherie — frustrated that Jessey still hasn’t proposed yet — literally takes matters into her own hands and asks him to marry him during Jevon’s 100-day party. The show was filmed pre-COVID in 2019. So did Cherie and Jessey finally wed? Cherie has waited a long time for Jessey to put a ring on it (Photo: Netflix). “Well, we definitely are still engaged,” Jessey told TheWrap’s Lawrence Yee on a joint interview with Cherie. “But I still have plans to give Cherie a proper engagement though. That is coming. With COVID it can be a little tricky.” “But I’m hopeful sometime this year — as COVID settles down with the vaccine — maybe the opportunity for me to actually come through with what I’ve had in my mind — the perfect proposal for Cherie.” “I really want to do something special,” he added. “Definitely with COVID and the lockdown, it makes it very difficult what I have envisioned.” “This is all kinda a surprise to me!” Cherie said with a laugh. “I didn’t know he was planning on proposing since I already did it. Yeah, that’d be great if he did actually. We’ve just been doing our daily thing and we never really talk about it so it’d be great if he had something up his sleeve.” “Oh I do,” Jessey interjected. As if pulling off a surprise, on-camera proposal wasn’t stressful enough, Jessey was flying back from Singapore and he missed his flight, adding to Cherie’s stress. And while audiences didn’t get to see the ring, Cherie — the consummate fashionista — revealed she bought Jessey a ring from Cartier. One thing’s for sure; Jadore and Jevon will be part of their parents’ wedding, whenever that may be. Cherie revealed the origins behind their unusual names. “Jadore came because Jessey wanted names with Js. We wanted a unique name. We felt my name was kinda unique — Cherie — and I have a little bit of French in me, so why not name her Jadore,” she explained. “Jevon was such a good baby. We thought he was literally a gift from God. We wanted a name that symbolized “gift from God” and started with a J. So we did all this crazy research and we thought it was a good name and not a common name.” (Editor’s note: Jevon is Welsh for “gift of God.”) When asked if they gave their children Chinese middle names — a common practice for Asian immigrants — Cherie said Jevon has one. “Jadore has a middle name that is named after a flower from a brand our whole family likes: Chanel’s Camellia. So that’s her middle name.” Because, of course. “Bling Empire” is currently streaming on Netflix. Read original story ‘Bling Empire': Are Cherie and Jessey Married? At TheWrap

The election and inauguration may be over, but that doesn’t mean that Jim Carrey is backing off his political cartoons. In the latest drawing, he fires his annoyance at Fox News, calling out the network for spreading dangerous misinformation and implying that it leaves its viewers brain dead. The new cartoon shows a doctor pointing to an x-ray that shows the logo of Fox News in the subject’s brain, with the doctor pointing to it and saying “I’m sorry, it’s brain cancer.” “One of the most corrosive threats to society moving forward is social media and right-wing disinformation,” Carrey tweeted along with his cartoon. “There should be giant fines for false info and if they call their content ‘hyperbole’ in court, they should not be allowed to call it ‘news’ on tv.” Carrey finished out his Trump era cartoons last week with a spiteful goodbye to Melania Trump, who he dubbed the “worst first lady.” Since leaving office, Trump has essentially disappeared from the public eye and President Biden has taken charge of reversing a lot of policies that the previous administration put in place over the years. But there’s one part of Trump’s presidency that will unfortunately continue to have staying power: Fox News. Also Read: Jim Carrey Mocks Trump Supporter Who Stole Nancy Pelosi's Lectern in New Cartoon Throughout the entirety of Trump’s four years in office, the network has been notorious for spreading misinformation through its program. From COVID-19 dangers to mask-wearing mandates to the election outcome and the consequent Capitol riots, nothing has been off-limits when it comes to what the network will preach about. And despite recent instances like Shepard Smith calling out Fox News for their journalistic integrity and Chris Wallace praising Biden’s inauguration speech, we know the Fox News isn’t about to change its tune in the new era of Joe Biden. Which means we can probably look forward to more call-outs from Carrey in the future. Take a look at his latest cartoon here. A federal bankruptcy judge approved on Monday a settlement plan with the bankrupt Weinstein Company that will create a $17.1 million fund for Harvey Weinstein’s victims. “This bankruptcy plan guarantees that Harvey Weinstein’s survivors will have the opportunity to be heard in a safe and confidential process. Although there will never be enough compensation or redress to right these wrongs, we’re immeasurably honored to represent our brave and resilient clients who, in the face of adverse rulings, continued to advocate for a fund for all survivors,” Beth Fegan, a lead attorney representing some of the claimants, told TheWrap in a statement. “This plan truly leverages the voices of survivors, and as evidenced by the majority support of the settlement, we’re heartened to have reached a solution that empowers each woman to do what is right for her.” The victims’ fund will be divided among over 50 claimants and will resolve most of the sexual assault and harassment claims against the former producer, who is currently serving out a 23-year prison sentence in New York. Restaurants in Los Angeles County will be allowed to reopen for outdoor dining beginning on Friday, Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said on Monday. The county first shut down outdoor dining in late November following a surge in COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles. But the move was met with heavy backlash from restaurant owners, and some of whom attempted to block the restrictions through legal action. Earlier on Monday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom lifted the state’s stay-at-home order, meaning counties would return back to the color-coded tier system to determine restrictions and reopenings. Los Angeles remains in the purple “widespread” tier, which is the worst level. Also Read: New Mask and Quarantine Rules Among Changes to LA's COVID Filming Guidelines Along with the lifting of the stay-at-home order, L.A. County health officials said that, as of Monday, personal care services can reopen at 25% capacity. Outdoor, private gatherings may also resume with a limit to three households and a maximum of 15 people. Indoor malls and retail may also reopen at 25% capacity, but common areas like food courts will remain closed. Indoor movie theaters must also remain closed. Facebook / LA County “Los Angeles County will essentially align with the state, by the end of the week, to allow for the reopening of permitted activities under the Purple Tier. This will include outdoor dining,” L.A. County Supervisor Hilda Solis said. On Monday, the county and Film LA also announced new mask and quarantine guidelines for TV and film productions. Growers, angry at what they see as laws that help large, private buyers at the expense of producers, have been camped outside Delhi for almost two months. Around half of India's population works in agriculture, and unrest among the estimated 150 million land-owning farmers represents one of the biggest challenges to the authority of Prime Minister Narendra Modi since he came to power in 2014.

The Nasdaq rose to another record high Monday along with the S&P 500. Optimistic investors scooped up stay-at-home tech stocks like Microsoft, Facebook and Apple ahead of their earnings reports this week. But the Dow pulled back slightly Monday on concerns over the timing and size of fiscal stimulus. The Nasdaq ended up seven-tenth percent but well off its highs for the day. The S&P 500 gained four-tenth percent. But the Dow receded a tenth percent. Kramer Capital Research chief investment officer Hilary Kramer says investors this week may take their cues from Apple, which rose nearly 3% Monday ahead of their earnings report on Wednesday. “Apple just hit another 52-week high on expectations of you know, kind of new gadgets coming out in 2022, but that’s going to also lead the market or bring the market down depending on what they were.” She senses some froth in the market, pointing to GameStop, whose shares doubled intraday before investors settled for a rise of 18%.
