at the Turath Center for Traditional Handicrafts on the outskirts of Dubai

using a small stand called Kajooja and a bolster-shaped cushion

Weaving palm fronds is an ancestral Emirati heritage craft called Al Khous

Shamma Al Saadi was taught by her grandmother and joined the center to teach others

"We would like the crafts to pass onto all generations and for us to teach our families. We came here to learn and expected it to be harder than it turned out to be."
