Transfer insider Dean Jones thinks Arsenal are “willing” to spend big money and they “know they’ve got to” to snare Mykhaylo Mudryk.
Arsenal’s links to Mudryk have been constant since the summer transfer window. Given he is a big talent, it’s obvious why they were keen, and have remained so.
The talent that the winger possesses is clear as day. Mudryk has scored eight goals and provided seven assists in 15 games so far this season.
Five of those goal contributions came in the Champions League, showing the star can do it outside of Ukraine.
While there have been a few links elsewhere, the Gunners have dominated the headlines regarding the snare.
So much so that Mudryk’s Shakhtar Donetsk teammates have accepted he will be going to the Emirates. Indeed, goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin admitted the players joke that he is “already at Arsenal”.
The north London outfit have reportedly put the wheels in motion for the transfer already.
Recent reports suggest that progress in completing the deal has been positive.
Arsenal ‘willing to pay’ big sum
Those reports also suggested that Shakhtar now want around £60million for their star. Transfer insider Jones believes Arsenal know that, and do not see it is a problem.
“I think they would [pay that], yeah. And I think they know that they’ve got to,” he told GIVEMESPORT.
Indeed, the chance to sign the player will not be around forever. Given Arsenal seem to clearly be in the box seat, it would seem strange if they now do not sign Mudryk, no matter the price.
Jones also believes the fee is a fair one for the star.
“So, we think €65 million (£56million) is traditionally a lot of money in football, but it’s actually becoming a reasonable figure in the transfer market for the players with a high ceiling,” he added.
“And I think that that is an amount that Arsenal will be willing to pay.”
Arsenal have money to spend
It seems the ball is firmly in Arsenal’s court. They should have the money to spend on Mudryk, following comments from Mikel Arteta that a “window is open” for his side to bring some players in soon.
As such, it could be that the star comes through the door as early as January.
That would surely help the Gunners to maintain their position at the head of the Premier League.
