Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea all counting on Brighton collapse in bid to sign outstanding midfielder
The future of highly-rated Brighton midfielder Alex Mac Allister could end up being decided by one major factor come the end of the season, TEAMtalk has learned.
The Seagulls star has had an impressive campaign down on the south coast and took that form into the winter World Cup in Qatar as Argentina emerged triumphant on the big stage.
That has led to the 24-year-old being linked with a number of Premier League rivals, including the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham.
And, according to transfer insider Graeme Bailey, Mac Allister is pushing for a summer exit.
Bailey told TEAMtalk: “Alexis Mac Allister wants to leave Brighton this summer. But he has a lot of hurdles to overcome before he can get out of the AMEX.
“Mac Allister signed a new long-term deal just before Argentina’s World Cup campaign, which saw him excel. And it is no real shock to learn that the interest in him is strong with many clubs around Europe keen.
“However, Brighton as it stands are in no mood to sell – given that he only signed his new deal earlier in the season.”
Brighton may follow Caicedo stance with Argentine
Bailey also singled out Brighton’s stance on the future of Moises Caicedo and the fact that they can be stubborn with players they really want to keep.
He added: “As we saw with their stance over Moises Caicedo, they stood firm in January and if they decide not to sell they won’t – although could something like that go on for the whole of the summer, am not so sure.”
Much will now depend on how Roberto De Zerbi’s men finish the current campaign. Brighton currently sit seventh in the table but are only seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham with three games in hand.
And Bailey added: “I am told Brighton’s finishing position could help dictate this, in that if they finish in Europe – that may quell his want to leave. But even that may not be enough to convince him not to seek a move especially if the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham come calling…which they might.”
