Arsenal plot stunning move for £60m Man Utd, Chelsea target as Arteta eyes cover for injured player
Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi as they look to strengthen their back line before the transfer window closes.
Mikel Arteta has already brought in Jurrien Timber this summer, but the former Ajax defender is facing seven months on the sidelines due to a serious knee injury.
Arsenal could therefore make a late attempt to lure Guehi away from Crystal Palace, and they aren’t the only club looking to secure his signature.
As reported by Football365, Manchester United have registered an interest in the 23-year-old, while his former club Chelsea have also considered making a move for him.
A concrete bid is yet to be made by any club for Guehi, but Arsenal are seriously considering doing so in the next few days.
The Gunners have already brought in Kai Havertz (£65m), Declan Rice (£105m), Timber (£38m) and David Raya (loan) this summer.
Arteta wants more signings, but due to FFP, Arsenal need to sell players before making any more big-money additions.
Luckily for them, they are on the verge of offloading one of their most in-demand players. Folarin Balogun is reportedly set to join Monaco on a permanent deal. Arsenal value him at approximately £50m.
With that in mind, Arteta may now put those funds towards signing Guehi – one of the best young defenders in the Premier League.

According to the Daily Mail, the centre-back is of ‘increasing interest’ to Arsenal, who could make a move for him in the next few days.
Guehi signed for Crystal Palace from Chelsea in 2021 for a fee of £18m. He has since established himself as one of the Eagles’ most important players.
The defender made 37 Premier League appearances last season, helping his team to eight clean sheets and scoring one goal. His impressive form saw him earn a call-up to the England squad last year, so there is no doubting his quality.
Guehi has three years remaining on his current contract so Palace are under no immediate pressure to sell him. It would therefore require a huge bid from Arsenal to lure him away from Selhurst Park, especially so close to the end of the transfer window.
The Daily Mail do not state how much Palace will demand for Guehi, but other reports suggest he could cost as much as £60m.
With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if Arsenal make an opening bid for the defender in the next few days.
