Arsenal are reportedly ‘more interested than ever’ in Borussia Dortmund star Julian Brandt amid reports linking him with rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The 26-year-old has been a consistent performer for Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund over the past few years.

The Germany international joined Dortmund in 2019 and he has been coming into his own of late. Last season, he was involved in 17 goals in his 31 league outings.

So far this campaign, he has eight goals and four assists in 23 league appearances. The versatile attacking midfielder started on Friday night as Dortmund beat RB Leipzig to move to the top of the Bundesliga.

This comes amid reports linking Brandt with a move to the Premier League. Earlier this week, it was claimed that Arsenal are ‘hot’ for the Dortmund star.

Christian Falk is now reporting that Brandt has been ‘dreaming for years of making it in the Premier League’.

The journalist notes that Arsenal are ‘interested again’, while Tottenham have also ‘knocked at Dortmund’s door’.

‘One of Julian Brandt’s closest friends is Kai Havertz,’ Falk wrote for Caught Offside.

‘They both played for Leverkusen, so when Havertz left for the Premier League, Brandt felt like he too needed to make the next step, so he later switched to Dortmund. Ultimately, it’s not the same given he’s been dreaming for years of making it in the Premier League.

‘There has always been contact with Arsenal and we’ve heard that the club is interested again. His contract expires in 2024, so there has to be a decision, especially now that he’s found more consistency this term in comparison to recent years at Dortmund.

‘Now, it could be the time to make the next step and follow Havertz to England. He hasn’t got one club in his head at the moment, but Arsenal are of course more interested than ever before.

‘We also heard that Tottenham have knocked at the club’s door, so Dortmund will be forced to bring a very good offer to keep him in the Bundesliga, otherwise it could be time for a Premier League switch.’

Speaking last month, Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl suggested that Brant has “taken a giant step forward” this season.

“We are seeing Julian’s development every day,” Kehl told BILD.

“He’s taken a giant step forward – and we’re very happy about that. I’m aware of the contract situation, of course, and we’re approaching the issue in a very positive and relaxed manner.”

Arsenal managed to strengthen in an attacking sense during the January transfer window as Leandro Trossard was signed from Brighton.

With Brandt out of contract in 2024, he could prove to be an ideal option for Arsenal this summer ahead of their Champions League return.
