Armed officers scrambled to residential street in Lambeth after gunman fires at boys from car

Armed officers swooped on a residential street in south London after witnesses saw a gunman shoot at a group of boys from a car.

Police were scrambled at just before 9.30pm on Wednesday to reports of a shot fired in Adelaide Close, Lambeth.

Specialist search teams were dispatched to the scene and a bullet casing was recovered.

Officers are trawling through CCTV footage form around the scene in the hunt for the shooter.

No arrests have been made.

“A Met statement said: “An investigation is under way after a firearm was discharged in a residential street in Lambeth.

“Police were called at 21:24hrs on Wednesday, 17 July to reports of a firearm being discharged in Adelaide Close, SW9. Officers attended and found one bullet shell at the site.“Witnesses say that a male with a handgun in a vehicle shot at a group of boys who were on the street.“There were no injuries. No arrests have been made at this time. Enquiries into the circumstances continue.”Detective Inspector Raymond Sekalongo from Trident said: “We would like to reassure the public that our investigation is moving forwards as we look to identify those responsible for this firearm discharge.
