Arieff Yong: Influencers shouldn't set high fee for acting work

4 Aug – Arieff Yong believes that a social media influencer like him has no right to set a high fee for an acting job.

The influencer himself, who is famous for his comedy videos, stated that a lot of influencers have no experience in acting, and thus should not be demanding.

"It is not appropriate [to make any demands]. Creating social media content is different from professional acting. In fact, social media influencers have no acting experience compared to existing actors," he said to Utusan. "As an influencer, we have no right to demand more payment if offered to act, we can only do so if the production company intends to use the influencer's social media platform for advertisement or publicity purposes."

"Remember, you are paid based on your acting skills. It's not worth it for a production company to pay expensive social media influencers but the quality of acting is not up to standard," he said.

Meanwhile, Arieff himself recently joined "Real Men Malaysia: Wira Merah", a reality show where a group of celebrities and influencers experience the training as firefighters. The Astro show also stars TV host Hawa Riezwana, actress Jasmine Suraya, athlete Mat Redho, and comedian Shashic Iewan among others.
