Argentine youth demand eco action on Earth Day
STORY: Carrying banners with messages such as "Environmental justice is social justice", the protesters, mostly young people, demanded the advancement of a bill to protect wetlands, a fair energy transition and the promotion of sustainable practices like agroecology, as well as changes in production models.
"Something has to change," said Federico Winokur, activist for the Anti-Capitalist Ecological Action Group. "This capitalist logic where the only thing that matters is the profits of businessmen has to stop to make room for a logic where the future of young people is prioritized."
Earth Day, celebrated on April 22 each year, is a way to remind people of the urgent need to intensify actions to protect wildlife and the planet against the destruction caused by human activities.
