Arctic Front Glazes Trees With Ice Along Chicago Lakeshore

Snow and Arctic winds walloped Chicago in the first days of January, coating trees along the Lake Michigan shoreline with snow and ice.

Video taken by Craig Shimala, who said he filmed it on January 3 on 31st Street Beach, shows ice-coated trees.

The National Weather Service forecast more gusty winds and snow showers on January 5, as well as a “multi-day period of below-zero wind chills” driven by an Arctic front. Credit: Craig Shimala via Storyful
