Showtime released a trailer for the return of “Billions” Season 5, which continues with five new episodes on Sept. 5 at 9 p.m.

In the second half of Season 5, the presence of powerful billionaire Mike Prince (Corey Stoll) sends ripples through Axe Capital, giving Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) a potential new weapon in his fight against Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis).

The series also stars Asia Kate Dillon, Maggie Siff, David Costabile, Condola Rashad, Kelly AuCoin and Jeffrey DeMunn, while Jeanane Garafolo will guest star as Winslow, the hip owner of a legal cannabis corp.

“Billions” is created by showrunners Brian Koppelman and David Levien along with Andrew Ross Sorkin.

DATES

Sci-fi entertainment platform Dust announced that a director’s cut of “Orbital Redux” will premiere on Aug. 1. The first season of the series, which was performed and broadcast live for Alpha and Nerdist, followed a seasoned astronaut and his rookie partner working together to survive major mishaps in outer space. The director’s cut will present a new, polished version of the story. “Orbital Redux” is written and directed by Steven Calcote, with Lillian Diaz-Przybyl serving as showrunner. Butcher Bird Studio produces.

FIRST LOOKS

Lifetime released a trailer for “Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace,” premiering on Sept. 6 at 8 p.m. Starring Jordan Dean and Sydney Morton, the third installment in the “Harry & Meghan” franchise explores what really happened inside the palace that drove the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to leave everything behind and carve out a new future for themselves and their son Archie. Merideth Finn and Michele Weiss executive produce, while Menhaj Huda will direct from a script by Scarlett Lacey. Watch the trailer below.

Apple TV Plus released a trailer for Season 2 of “See,” which premieres on Aug. 27. In the trailer, Alkenny chieftain Baba Voss (Jason Momoa) dodges swords flying past his face, leads his tribe in battle and searches for his estranged and revenge-seeking brother Edo, played by Dave Bautista, a new addition to the cast. “See” Season 2 will be eight episodes long, with a new episode premiering each Friday after the premiere date. The series has already been renewed for a third season. “See” is run by Jonathan Tropper, who executive produces along with Steven Knight, Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Jim Rowe. The series is produced by Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor Content.

CASTING

Netflix announced that Matt Bomer will join the cast of “Echoes,” a limited series currently in development. The mystery thriller follows identical twins Leni and Gina, both played by Michelle Monaghan, who regularly swap places and share a double life until Leni disappears. Bomer plays Leni’s childhood sweetheart and husband Jack Beck. “Echoes” is created and written by Vanessa Gazy while Brian Yorkey and Quinton Peeples showrun. Gazy, Yorkey and Peeples all executive produce along with Imogen Banks on behalf of Endemol Shine Banks Australia.

Paramount Plus announced that ​​Adriyan Rae, Vaughn Hebron and Analisa Velez have joined the cast of “The Game,” alongside Brittany Daniel and Pooch Hall, who will make special appearances reprising their original roles. The series returns with a mix of new players and original cast, including previously announced series regulars Wendy Raquel Robinson and Hosea Chanchez, to offer a modern-day examination of Black culture through the lens of pro football. With Kevin Bray directing the first two episodes, “The Game” is produced by CBS Studios, Akil Productions and Grammnet NH Productions. Mara Brock Akil, showrunner Devon Greggory, Salim Akil, Kelsey Grammer and Tom Russo executive produce.

PROGRAMMING

HGTV has greenlit 11 new series and placed three more pilots in production for its 2021-22 programming lineup. In “Holmes Family Rescue,” contractor Mike Holmes will team up with his kids to save clients who have nowhere else to turn after living through botched construction jobs. In “Flipping Showdown,” “Flip of Flop Atlanta” stars Ken and Anita Corsini will invite three teams of flippers to Atlanta, purchasing three investment properties for each duo and providing the funding for the teams to design and renovate the homes in only six months. “First Home Fix,” which is a working title (wt), will spotlight design duo Austin Coleman and Raisa Kuddus as they create custom renovations for eager young newlywed and millennial clients. From the producers of TLC’s “90 Day Fiancé,” “Moving for Love” will follow long-distance relationships as they find their first home together. Included in HGTV’s real estate and renovation rescue slate are “Why the Heck Did I Buy This House? (wt),” “Renovation Remix,” “Call the Closer” and “Home Inspector Joe.” Starring Ben and Cristi Dozier, “Building Roots” will spotlight out-of-the-box and unique homes, while “Renovation Goldmine” will follow Joe and Meg Piercy as they renovate Chicago properties by upcycling, and “My Flippin Fortune (wt)” is a house flipping experiment series. HGTV’s new pilots include “Flip It To the Maccs (wt),” “Family of Property Love (wt)” and “Revealed.”

EVENTS

HBO Max, Roku, Sinclair Broadcasting Group, Tubi, Univision and ViacomCBS Streaming are among the companies that will speak at the third annual NATPE Streaming Plus event, held in person and virtually on Sept. 14, live from the W Hollywood Hotel. The event’s theme this year is “Choosing a Streaming Lane,” reflecting on how the industry’s leading platforms are redefining their position based on models including FAST, AVOD, SVOD or some combination of them.
