Apple TV Plus Releases ‘The Shrink Next Door’ Trailer (TV News Roundup)

Apple TV Plus released a trailer for “The Shrink Next Door,” which premieres the first three episodes of the eight-episode series on Nov. 12, followed by one new episode weekly, every Friday through Dec. 17.

The series stars Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Kathryn Hahn and Casey Wilson and is inspired by true events and the podcast of the same name. “The Shrink Next Door” follows the decades-long manipulation and exploitation by psychiatrist Dr. Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf (Rudd) and his longtime patient Martin Markowitz (Ferrel). Dr. Ike is accompanied by his unsuspecting wife Bonnie Herschkopf (Wilson) and though Marty may be defenseless against Dr. Ike, his sister Phyllis is not (Hahn).

“The Shrink Next Door” is directed by Michael Showalter and Jesse Peretz and based on the script by Georgia Pritchett. Ferrell and Rudd also serve as executive producers, along with Jessica Elbaum and Brittney Segal for Gloria Sanchez Productions. Pritchett executive produces in addition to write as well, and Showalter executive produces alongside Jordana Mollick on behalf of Semi-Formal Productions. Marshall Lewy, Hernan Lopez and Aaron Hart for Wondery, and Jared Snadberg, Katie Boyce and Francesca Levy for Bloomberg Media also serve as executive producers with the podcast’s host Joe Nocera as co-executive producer. Amazon Prime Video revealed a trailer for upcoming adult animated comedy series “Fairfax.” The series will premiere all eight episode on Oct. 29 and stars Skyler Gisondo, Kiersey Clemons, Peter S. Kim and Jaboukie Young-White as four middle school best friends on their quest for clout on Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles. The guest cast of “Fairfax” includes Pamela Adlon, Jeff Bottoms, Yvette Nicole Brown, Rob Delaney, Zoey Deutch, Cotlon Dunn, John Leguizamo, Camila Mendes, Larry Owens, Linda Park, Billy Porter, Ben Schwartz, Tim Simons and J.B. Smoove, among others. The series is created and executive produced by Matthew Hausfater, Aaron Buchsbaum and Teddy Riley, along with executive producers Jon Zimelis and Jason U. Nadler for Serious Business and Chris Prynoski, Ben Kalina and Antonia Canobbio for Titmouse. The artist Somehoodlum serves as consulting producer alongside media brand Pizzaslime. Netflix released a trailer for Ava DuVernay and Colin Kaepernick’s “Colin in Black & White” premiering on Oct. 29. Jaden Michael stars as young Colin before reaching the highest levels of American football as an NFL quarterback and becoming a cultural icon and activist. Nick Offerman and Mary-Louise Parker star as Kaepernick’s parents, with Kaepernick playing his current self, appearing as the present-day narrator. DuVernay, Kaepernick and Michael Starrbury serve as executive producers. Watch the trailer below.

“Temple” will return for Season 2 on Nov. 1 on Spectrum On Demand. All seven episodes of the crime series will be released at once. The series follows Daniel Milton, who opened an illegal medical clinic beneath London’s Temple subway station with the hopes of healing his wife Beth with experimental treatments. The show stars Mark Strong and Catherine McCormack, who are also joined by Carice van Houten, Daniel Mays, Lily Newmark, Ryan McKen, Tobi King Bakare, Rhys Ifans, Michael Smiley, Ruthxjiah Bellenea, Mandeep Dhillon, Jamie Michie, Will Keen and Gbemisola Ikumelo. Liza Marshall and Strong executive produce for Hera Pictures and Gabriel Silver executive produces for Sky Studios. “Temple” is written by Colette Kane, Josh Freedman Berthoud, James Allen and Alan Westaway, Daniel Jackson and Daniel Cullen; produced by Laurie Borg and directed by Christopher Smith, Tinge Krishan and Fredrik Louis Hviid. Netflix announced “Masters of the Universe: Revelation Part 2” will premiere on Nov. 23. The animated series picks up where the characters left off decades ago. After a battle between He-Man and Skeletor, Eternia is fractured and the Guardians of Grayskull have dispersed — leaving Teela to reunite the broken band of heroes. The series stars Mark Hamill, Lena Headey, Chris Wood, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Liam Cunningham, Tiffany Smith, Alicia Silverstone, Steven Root, Diedrich Bader and Tony Todd. Kevin Smith executive produces alongside Frederic Soulie, Adam Bonnett, Christopher Keenan and Rob David. From Mattel Television, the series is produced by Susan Corbin and written by Marc Bernardin, Eric Carrasco, Diya Mishra and Tim Sheridan.

CASTING

Fox News Channel (FNC) has added Alexis McAdams and Brittany Garzillo as New York based correspondents; they will begin their roles this month. McAdams joins FNC from WLS-TV, the ABC owned and operated station in Chicago, Ill., where she covered the city’s crime beat since 2018. Since March 2020, Garzillo worked for Fox’s owned and operated station WFLD-TV in Chicago where she served as an on-air reporter.

Brigitte Kali Canales has joined the cast of “Roswell, New Mexico” in a recurring role for its fourth season. Canales will play Tezca, a tenacious woman who comes to town on a mysterious mission that sends a ripple effect through Roswell’s fragile status quo. Jeanine Mason, Nathan Dean Parsons, Michael Vlamis, Lily Cowles, Tyler Blackburn, Heather Hemmens, Michael Trevino, Trevor St. John, Karan Oberoi and Amber Midthunder star in the series that airs on The CW. Carina Adly MacKenzie, Kevin Kelly Brown, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Lawrence Bender and Julie Plec serve as executive producers. “Roswell, New Mexico” is produced by Warner Bros. Television.

AWARDS

The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced Aardman’s “Shaun the Sheep: Adventures From Mossy Bottom” Season 6 won an International Emmy Kids Award in the Kids: Animation category, while De Mensen’s “Tekens van leven” won in the Kids: Factual and Entertainment category, and Epic Films’ “First Day” won in the Kids: Live-Action category. The winners were announced online via the International TV Academy’s website during the MipJunior conference.
