Apple to reveal iOS 17, macOS 14 and possibly all-new AR/VR headset on June 5 at WWDC23

KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 — Apple has announced that it will be organising its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC23) in early June. As usual, the event will be held online while developers and students are allowed to attend a special in-person experience at Apple Park on the first day. You can expect Apple to showcase its latest developments for its operating systems covering iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS. With the iPhone 15 expected to be announced later this year, we will get a glimpse of what iOS 17 has to offer.

WWDC23 is a 5-day event running from 5th to 9th June 2023. For Apple developers who are interested to attend in person, you may submit a request to attend but do note that seats are limited. According to Apple, the invitations will be allocated by a random selection process and successful invitees will be notified by 5th April at 6pm.

It has been rumoured that Apple’s long-awaited Mixed Reality Headset might make its debut during this year’s WWDC23. Apparently, the WWDC23 invite image seems to resemble a pancake lens, which is typically used for VR goggles. A few days ago, it was reported that the new AR/VR headset was demonstrated to top executives at Cupertino, which is a strong indication that the product will be released to the public soon. Mark Gurman, an Apple analyst at Bloomberg said “the demonstrations were polished, glitzy and exciting, but many executives are clear-eyed about Apple’s challenges pushing into this new market”.

However, don’t expect the new Apple Mixed Reality headset to be affordable to the masses. The all-new product is said to be priced at around US$3,000 (about RM13,254) and it will require an external battery as a power source. All shall be revealed in the first week of June. — SoyaCincau
